Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha), part of the PureHealth group, has launched a year-long nationwide awareness campaign aimed at encouraging more Emirati women to become voluntary blood donors. 8,599 Emirati women have registered as blood donors since 2020, together contributing a total of 4,022 donations used to support transfusions and emergency medical care across the country.

Dr Eiman Al Zaabi, Medical Director of Seha's Blood Bank Services, said the campaign offers an opportunity to recognise the contribution already made by women donors while encouraging more eligible women to take part in the programme.

To donate under the scheme, volunteers must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh at least 50 kilograms, be in good general health, and hold a valid Emirates ID; tourists and short-term visitors are generally not eligible to donate blood through the programme.

Seha said it hopes the year-long campaign will steadily increase the number of registered Emirati women donors, helping to build a more stable national blood supply to meet future medical and emergency needs.
