Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), working with Dubai Police, has revised the speed limits on five city roads, effective November 1. The agency says the change follows a comprehensive engineering and technical study aimed at smoothing traffic flow and improving road safety.

On Al Asayel Street, the limit has risen from 60 km/h to 80 km/h. Al Mustaqbal Street and Latifa Bint Hamdan Street have both seen their limits raised from 60 km/h to 70 km/h.

Two other roads have had their limits lowered instead. Al Ribat Street now has a limit of 90 km/h, down from 100 km/h, while Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street has dropped from 80 km/h to 70 km/h.

RTA said the adjustments reflect a close review of traffic patterns, vehicle density and accident-prone spots along each route, with limits raised where conditions allow faster, smoother flow and lowered where the risk of collisions is higher.

Drivers using these roads are urged to watch for the new signage immediately, since speed cameras have already been recalibrated to the updated limits — meaning anyone exceeding the new thresholds risks a fine starting today. RTA added that it continues to monitor other roads across Dubai and may announce further limit changes as its review progresses.
